It Was IHSW
Well, Hermit & Stitch #10, 2016 is in the books. How did your weekend go?
I'm quite happy with my progress. I worked on the rug I'm hooking and my latest cross stitch piece which actually was the plan! How did that happen?
The rug, which eventually should look like this
started the weekend here
and finished it here
in spite of the quality controllers who came to inspect the work and didn't want to leave.
The cross stitch which will end up like this
(a small pillow though, not a card) started the weekend here
and finished here.
Neither picture shows the fabric properly - it's a darkish green colour. I'm a happy stitcher tonight.

Late IHSW and WIP Wednesday 21 September 2016
Well, IHSW did not go as planned (why I plan at all I wonder some days) but I did get in a few hours so the masked bunny went from
to this.
Looking a little bit more like Halloween.
But poor teddy is languishing exactly where I left him last IHSW.
I've got to get the lead out - days are getting cooler and Orin, or more properly Orin's grandmother, is going to want to have this on hand just in case.

It's IHSW!
It's International Hermit and Stitch Weekend! If you want a really good excuse to curl up and stitch the weekend away, wander over to Random Ramblings, sign up and join the rest of us. My poor teddy sweater has had no love since August IHSW, so I'm hoping to fix that this weekend. Here is where I left the poor thing.
And can anyone find me a gently used brain with a few decades of life left in it, because mine no longer works properly. In this post I mentioned that I was starting a new cross stitch but wouldn't be able to post pictures because it was a gift. Well, DUH, it is a gift, but for a Facebook friend, not a blog friend. So how does a brain confuse those two things? Anyway, this is the project and hopefully I will be able to find at least a couple of hours for it.
I blame Jo at Serendipitous Stitching for this. I was never all that interested in Halloween charts, then I started seeing all the nifty designs she kept stitching and posting in her blog and I got sucked in. So this is my first venture to the dark side! LOL Okay, he's not that dark, but it's a slippery slope, right?

IHSW August 2016
It was IHSW this weekend (and I forgot to post Friday evening - sorry!) and I managed to get a bit done. That's in spite of my helper(??)!
The sweater was here when the weekend started
and the front is now finished!!
Now comes what I call the icky bits, adding the collar and doing the seams.
Santa/elf was here
and is here now.
Not a lot of growth, but every little bit helps, right?

It's IHSW This Weekend!
It's that weekend again!
I'm really looking forward to having a stitchy weekend - I've felt very short changed the last couple of weeks - my needle may rust!
Don't know what I'm talking about? Pop over to Random Ramblings, check it out and join in the fun. You have official permission to take the third weekend of every month, hermit yourself away and stitch!

IHSW Part 2, Finished!
Oops, I just realized I didn't do a Friday start post. Man oh man, I'm getting forgetful (or maybe lazy?). Oh well, I've had a pretty good stitching weekend all the same. Orin's sweater was here
and now it's here.
I'm a couple of rows passed halfway on the sleeves.
Santa/elf was here
and is now here.
And as I was finishing up I realized I had forgotten his other arm, so hopefully by WIP Wednesday he will be a little more balanced.
Now to hop around and see how everyone else did.

Good-bye to IHSW, Part 1
Well, it turned out to be an interesting weekend. First of all, I woke up Saturday morning feeling quite a bit better - still stuffed up but not as sniffly. Then, at about 1130, the power went off - not just at my place but all of Prince Rupert was down. Still have no idea why, but for 6 hours we were disconnected from the outside world. So, what do you do when nothing electrical will work and there is gorgeous sunshine streaming through all the windows? Find a comfy chair and stitch of course.
First you have to pull your project bag out from under your helper.
I find this the perfect size for small projects. The top compartment holds the floss, the middle one the fabric and a small hoop if I need it and the bottom one my scissors, spare needles and ORT bag.
So Santa/elf went from here
to here.
And the sweater sleeves did get started.
That's 6 rows of ribbing, so I'm half way through.
Not a huge amount for a whole weekend, but enough to let me know I am on the mend.
Now to blog hop and see what everyone else was up to.

IHSW Part I
I almost missed it!
IHSW usually takes place the third weekend of the month, but since the first May weekend was half April, half May, we're going to hermit and stitch for two weekends. Want to join in? Wander over to Random Ramblings and sign up.
Are you wondering what on earth I'm talking about? Head on back to Random Ramblings and read all about it.
As I haven't picked up any needle at all due to my rotten cold, I'll be happy with any stitch of any kind. Since I'm feeling almost human today (fingers crossed it's a trend in the right direction) hopefully a little more on my Santa/elf
or maybe get the sweater sleeves cast on and started. Stay tuned!

IHSW Weekend Finish 18 April 2016
Well, life pretty much ate up my stitching time this weekend, but I did get about an hour on my snowman. This is where I was Friday evening
and here's where I stopped last night.
At least I got his gift finished!
Now off to blog hop and see what everyone else has done.

IHSW Weekend Start 15 April 2016
It's I(nternational) H(ermit) and S(titch) W(eekend), when stitchers around the globe settle in and stitch the weekend away.
Would you like to join us? Have a look at Random Ramblings' blog.
I'm going to try and work on 2 projects this weekend. #1 is the sweater and I'm starting here
Since the back is just straight blue stocking stitch, I figure the ruler will be the only way to see my progress unless I miraculously finish it!
#2 is my snowman and I'm starting him here.
See you all on Monday!

IHSW Report
Well, I got some stitching done this weekend. I will be SO glad when I find a new place to live so I quit losing stitching time! Here's where I was at the beginning of the weekend
And here I was as of last night.
Fingers are crossed for a finish this week.

IHSW Part 2
Almost forgot there's another IHSW weekend coming up! Hoping to get a few more stitches in my ornament, although I'm working on Saturday so that will cut into my stitching time. Want to join us? Click here. Wondering what I'm talking about, check out Random Ramblings and find out what's what.

WIP Wednesday 12 August 2015 and IHSW Part 1
IHSW?? Part 1?? What am I talking about? If you don't know what IHSW is, click here and check it out. If you're wondering why Part 1, let me explain. IHSW is supposed to take place on the 3rd FULL weekend (Friday to Sunday). This is the 3rd weekend of August, but only the 2nd full one, so Joyce our host over at Random Ramblings has decided we will have 2 weekends this month. Yay for more stitching time! Want to join us? Click here and participate in the fun.
It's been a good week on the stitching front. Last week I was here.
I got the two pieces finished
It was mailed to my partner in the smalls exchange yesterday. A little late, but she lives here in B.C so it should get to her quite quickly.
And then I started on my Santa ornament for an Christmas ornie SAL that I've joined, hosted by Kaye at Kitten Stitching. If you want to check us out, click here.
I chose my ornie from this book,
one of a series that Leisure Arts published all about Christmas. Then I gathered my floss and fabric
and last night I got started. I got in this much stitching before toddling off to bed.
Almost a complete border.

WIP Wednesday 15 July 2015 And Other Things
Okay, some progress with the wedding sampler. Here I was last week
And here is where I stopped on Monday.
It's hard to see all the fill in stitches inside the heart, but they are there. Still is a fair bit of back stitching to do before I can move over to the second bird.
And why wasn't I stitching last night you ask? Well, I settled down to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy as usual and Yoda decided to join me.
And I just didn't have the heart to move him when the hour was up, so I settled for some reading instead.
THERE'S A GIVE AWAY HAPPENING!
There is a most generous give away opportunity at the Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe blog of some beautiful looking floss. Check it out here!
IHSW is coming!!
A weekend that is totally dedicated to stitching, from Friday night to Sunday night, This lovely idea is hosted by Joysze at Random Ramblings. Click here if you want to join us, click here if you're going "Huh, what IS she talking about?".
And on a more personal note - when I turned 65 in May, I mentioned that I was working hard to shed some excess weight. Well, more honestly, a LOT of excess weight. And, as of my weekly weigh in yesterday morning, I have gotten rid of 100.5 pounds! Now THAT caused a happy dance, believe you me. However, celebrating is over and it's back to working on the next 5 pounds.
