And Then It's Upside Down!

My container garden on my steps has a lovely miniature rose as one of the plants.

As you can see, it's loaded with buds. We really, really need a couple of hot, sunny days and it will be full of blooms. And the warmest it's going to get over the next 10 days is 15 (that's 59 for you Fahrenheit people) and 3 days of POSSIBLE sunshine. What's happened to our summer???

And what do you mean I'm in the way?

Aren't doorways meant for sitting in?

Oh, and the upside down part? I was sitting doing some computer work Wednesday afternoon when my landlord knocked on my door and gave me an eviction notice! No, I haven't been a terrible tenant, honest. They've just decided they want to convert the suite into a graphic arts studio for the wife. I've been here 12 years and I was hoping I would never have to move again. I HATE MOVING!!!!! The rental situation in Rupert sucks at the moment, so it's going to be a tough couple of months. And be warned, you're probably going to hear all about it!

WIP Wedesday 29 July 2015

The week started off great, but then I wasn't feeling well and all stitching stopped. I was here last Wednesday

and this is as much as I got done before I stopped.

Feeling much better now, so should get more stitches in this week.

Summer Postcard Blog Hop!

Interested in finding new stitching blogs and stitchers? Want to know how they feel about pets? Check out the summer postcard blog hop at Jo's blog.

My postcard came from Julie at Julie's Stitching Journal.

She has stitched this beautiful picture

and here's what she has to say about her pets:

I think it was around 2005 that I stitched this 'Mystery Stitch project' by Pam Kellogg of Kitty and Me.  You got the name of the project, size of the fabric and the thread list, but no idea what the design would be, it was great fun.  When she said that her next one would be 'Smokey Joe' there was lots of speculation as to it being a cat design.  I just had to give it go and signed up.  Each week the parts came out and finally we ended up with this wonderful chap, he looks so lifelike and now hangs on my wall.

It's strange as when I met my DH almost 30 years ago I had never been a cat lover.  A friend of his had a farm cat that had recently had kittens and one was looking for a new home.  A gorgeous black and white fluffy ball of fun came home with us and from that moment on I became a cat lover too.  Over the years we've had many little kittys, tabbys, black and white but never a ginger or a plain black one.  We had 4 together at one time.  Now we only have 1, a little chap that used to live over the back to us but when his family moved he decided that he wanted to stay with us.  We have never actively gone out to get a pet cat, they have all come to us in one way or another.  I can't imagine my life now without a cat that snuggles up on my lap and stops me from stitching!

WIP Wednesday 22 July 2015

Goodness, how did it get to be Wednesday again!

Here's where I was last Wednesday.

I've since finished the heart

and moved on to the top right hand corner.

Got this far before putting it away

so I can concentrate on this.

It's for a Smalls exchange and it will be my sole piece now until it's finished and mailed off.

Floss Giveaway - Reminder

I have posted about this before, but it was tucked into a rather long post about a lot of things and I'm not sure it got properly noticed.

Nancy at Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe is doing a giveaway of some gorgeous looking floss. Check it out here. Aren't these beautiful?

It's TUSAL Time!

And I almost forgot. Here's this month's threads.

Again, it seems a pitiful amount for the stitching I've been doing. But I am making progress, so that's a good thing.

And here's the year to date.

And here's what they came from.

And why am I showing off bits of threads? Wander over to Daffycat's blog and find out all about it.

WIP Wednesday 15 July 2015 And Other Things

Okay, some progress with the wedding sampler. Here I was last week

And here is where I stopped on Monday.

It's hard to see all the fill in stitches inside the heart, but they are there. Still is a fair bit of back stitching to do before I can move over to the second bird.

And why wasn't I stitching last night you ask? Well, I settled down to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy as usual and Yoda decided to join me.

And I just didn't have the heart to move him when the hour was up, so I settled for some reading instead.

THERE'S A GIVE AWAY HAPPENING!

There is a most generous give away opportunity at the Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe blog of some beautiful looking floss. Check it out here!

IHSW is coming!!

A weekend that is totally dedicated to stitching, from Friday night to Sunday night, This lovely idea is hosted by Joysze at Random Ramblings. Click here if you want to join us, click here if you're going "Huh, what IS she talking about?".

And on a more personal note - when I turned 65 in May, I mentioned that I was working hard to shed some excess weight. Well, more honestly, a LOT of excess weight. And, as of my weekly weigh in yesterday morning, I have gotten rid of 100.5 pounds! Now THAT caused a happy dance, believe you me.  However, celebrating is over and it's back to working on the next 5 pounds.

WIP Wednesday 8 July 2015

Some good progress on the wedding sampler this week.

This is where I was last Wednesday.

Then I finished this section - except for beads and an elongated Smyrna stitch border that goes outside the blue border around the main area and inside the blue border of the personalisation and alphabet rectangles.

So I moved on to the top centre heart.

And here is where I left it last night.

I hope to get a few more hours in tonight, but then I MUST work on a piece for a smalls exchange that has to go in the mail in 2 weeks at the latest.

I've also been dealing with a stitching impediment

All of a sudden Snowy has decided that sleeping ON me is a good thing, in spite of the heat - and he is very persistent!

WIP Wednesday 1 July 2015

Got some good stitching time into the wedding sampler this week.

This was where I left off 2 weeks ago

and this is where I finished last night.

The background stitching is finally all done for this section and got some serious back stitching done. Just need to finish the bird and I can move on to a new section.
