A Productive Couple of Days

Well, it's been a cooking kind of weekend.

Made a couple of favourites - a batch of baked beans and these Turkey Cheese Breakfast Cups.

The cheese on top sort of ran on this batch - it's actually 6 individual muffins! I love to take these with me on the mornings when I have to be at Sisters at 6 a.m. They heat up beautifully in the microwave - and freeze well too!

Then I tried two new recipes - this Cranberry Banana Bread

and Oven-Fried Chicken with Almonds which was SO good. The chicken was really juicy and tender - something I often have trouble with when I cook chicken breast. I want to try it with turkey breast as well.

One glitch to all of this is that the thermostat on my oven is not working properly (I discovered in the middle of all this). The stove is quite old so I'm hoping it will be replaced, but my landlord hasn't said exactly what he's going to do yet.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Stocking Progress

I've managed some good stitching time on the stocking - this is what it looks like today.

I'm at the point where I'm transitioning between the 2 pages of the pattern. I'll be glad to be fully on the second page - for some reason the 2 repeat rows are causing me problems on this one!

IHSW For July Is Done

Well, it's been a good stitching weekend. Managed to get some stitches in both my projects, in spite of having to work on Saturday.

This is Project 1 on Friday evening (this one is a truer picture of the fabric colour):

and this is where I left it Sunday night.

And this is Project 2 Friday night:

and this is what it looked like Sunday night.

Now I can't wait to go blog hopping and see what everyone else has done!

IHSW Weekend is Coming!

It feels SO good to be part of this again! Are you wondering what I'm talking about? The third weekend of every month, stitchers hermit and stitch happily, then go blog hopping to see what everyone has been working on. If you want to be part of it, take a wander over to Joyce's blog and sign up. It's a great excuse (if you need one) to curl up and stitch the weekend away.

I have 2 projects I hope to get a little extra time on, so here's hoping for the best.

The Fur Brats

I still have my two cats, Snowy and Yoda and they're thriving nicely. They are both 7 this year, cats in their prime.

Sharing the sunshine.

Enjoying their window perch.

How did you get so dirty?

Sometimes Subway is a sandwich, sometimes it's a pillow!

Stitching Catch Up

Considering it's been more than a year since I posted, there isn't much to show, at least not in the way of finishes. I have a lot of WIPs, but pitifully few finishes.

The kit for this was a birthday gift from my craft partner Cynthia, in 2013 which I finished over that summer.

This kit I finished in the fall of 2013 and Cynthia turned it into this

for a birthday gift for my friend Denise in December of 2013.

This chart I received for a Christmas gift in 2012 and finished it late this spring - poor thing desperately needed to be ironed).

And, lastly, (yes, only 4 small finishes in over a year)

a small Bucilla kit that was my "carry with me" project.

I'm Really Not Dead!

My poor neglected blog! I'm not going to bore anyone with the saga of my computer problems, but I finally have a new one, it works beautifully and I'm going to try to get back to reconnecting with the blog world.

I'm still stitching (of course!) and still working at Sisters my two mornings a week (and still moaning about having to get up at 4 a.m.).

My most exciting news at the moment is I am going to a stitching retreat/get together in Quispamsis, NB in September and I'm going by train! I've always wanted to go across Canada by train and this seemed like the perfect excuse and opportunity. The retreat is with the same group who got together on Quadra Island, BC in September of 2011 and Mississauga, ON in 2006 and I'm so looking forward to seeing people. Since this will be my first trip to the Maritimes, I'm staying after the get together and doing some touring around. I'm hoping all the fall colours will be out.
