WIP Wednesday 25 May 2016
I wasn't sure I would have anything new to show after IHSW, but I did get in a little craft time Monday and yesterday, so I'm happy. Orin's sweater sleeves were here Sunday night
and made it to here by Monday night.
The next row is my last increase, then about 10 rows straight knitting and I will be able to cast off. Then to start the front with the pattern,
Santa/elf was here Sunday night
and here when I went to bed last night.
Now that he has two arms, I can carry on with his legs.
Hope you've all had a good stitching week!

I Know It's Really Spring!
Every year for my birthday in the middle of May, my friend Cynthia gives me a container garden for my front steps (at my old address), this year for my balcony. And it's here now and this is what I have.
The long planter has my glads that over wintered well and the square one is ??? Cynthia told me but I had never heard of it before, so the name is gone.
This one will be begonias, colour unknown at this point.
A mix of ?? The gardeners among you will probably know and maybe you can tell me.
More begonias of unknown colour.
Another mix.
More glads and in the centre of the big round pot will be a dahlia.
There are a couple of hanging baskets yet to come. They will be a first for me as I had no place to put them at my old home.
The reason for all this is I don't have a green cell in my body, never mind a whole thumb and Cynthia is green from her finger tips to her toe tips. And since she is also my craft partner, when she visits each week she keeps an eye on everything and makes sure I don't under or over water, checks for bugs, etc. So I get all the beauty with minimal effort. Can you say spoiled?
Oh, and I've hung my first hummingbird feeder. Hopefully I will get some visitors and will be able to share some pictures with you.

IHSW Part 2, Finished!
Oops, I just realized I didn't do a Friday start post. Man oh man, I'm getting forgetful (or maybe lazy?). Oh well, I've had a pretty good stitching weekend all the same. Orin's sweater was here
and now it's here.
I'm a couple of rows passed halfway on the sleeves.
Santa/elf was here
and is now here.
And as I was finishing up I realized I had forgotten his other arm, so hopefully by WIP Wednesday he will be a little more balanced.
Now to hop around and see how everyone else did.

Treats!
I almost forgot. While I was knitting at the Seniors' Centre this morning (with the knitting group) one of the ladies handed me these
and said she thought I might enjoy stitching them. She found them at Paws and Claws which is a local second hand store that benefits the SPCA. I love them both, but that Scottie dog is especially cute. What a generous thing for her to do!
WIP Wednesday 18 May 2016
Seeing progress which is nice. At the end of IHSW Part 1 I was here with Orin's sweater sleeves
and today I'm here.
Cuffs are done and the actual sleeve has been started.
At last WIP Wednesday I was here with Santa/elf,
after IHSW I was here,
and today I'm here.
You can almost tell he is carrying a basket of apples!

Good-bye to IHSW, Part 1
Well, it turned out to be an interesting weekend. First of all, I woke up Saturday morning feeling quite a bit better - still stuffed up but not as sniffly. Then, at about 1130, the power went off - not just at my place but all of Prince Rupert was down. Still have no idea why, but for 6 hours we were disconnected from the outside world. So, what do you do when nothing electrical will work and there is gorgeous sunshine streaming through all the windows? Find a comfy chair and stitch of course.
First you have to pull your project bag out from under your helper.
I find this the perfect size for small projects. The top compartment holds the floss, the middle one the fabric and a small hoop if I need it and the bottom one my scissors, spare needles and ORT bag.
So Santa/elf went from here
to here.
And the sweater sleeves did get started.
That's 6 rows of ribbing, so I'm half way through.
Not a huge amount for a whole weekend, but enough to let me know I am on the mend.
Now to blog hop and see what everyone else was up to.

IHSW Part I
I almost missed it!
IHSW usually takes place the third weekend of the month, but since the first May weekend was half April, half May, we're going to hermit and stitch for two weekends. Want to join in? Wander over to Random Ramblings and sign up.
Are you wondering what on earth I'm talking about? Head on back to Random Ramblings and read all about it.
As I haven't picked up any needle at all due to my rotten cold, I'll be happy with any stitch of any kind. Since I'm feeling almost human today (fingers crossed it's a trend in the right direction) hopefully a little more on my Santa/elf
or maybe get the sweater sleeves cast on and started. Stay tuned!

WIP Wednesday 11 May 2016
Well, not a particularly good stitching week - came down with a ferocious head cold this past weekend. I did get a few more stitches in elf/Santa before I got flattened. He was here last week
and got this far.
No work on the sweater at all I'm afraid.
The weather has been glorious the last few days and the fur brats are making the most of it.

WIP Wednesday 4 May 2016
It's been a pretty good week. Orin's sweater back was here last week
and it's finished this week.
Next will be the sleeves.
My little man was here
and he has the start of a face now, with a little bit of body.
Looking forward to another good week.
