WIP Wednesday 23 November 2016

And it's another Wednesday and time to review what's been done.

Again, the rug got most of my attention, going from here

 to here

with a softness check when I took the picture. I think it passed as Yoda took a lengthy nap before I was able to put it away.

Retirement went from here

to here.

It Was IHSW

Well, Hermit & Stitch #10, 2016 is in the books. How did your weekend go?

I'm quite happy with my progress. I worked on the rug I'm hooking and my latest cross stitch piece which actually was the plan! How did that happen?

The rug, which eventually should look like this

started the weekend here

and finished it here

in spite of the quality controllers who came to inspect the work and didn't want to leave.

The cross stitch which will end up like this

(a small pillow though, not a card) started the weekend here

and finished here.

Neither picture shows the fabric properly - it's a darkish green colour. I'm a happy stitcher tonight.

WIP Wednesday 12 October 2016

The nights are getting chillier, the dark is coming earlier and staying later, so it is definitely fall. We have had gorgeous sunny days though, so no complaints. So the question is, have I done anything? The answer is, yes.

For those of you who were following my sweater progress, here is Orin wearing it.

I am really glad now that I decided the size 4 was going to be too big, pulled it out and did the size 2. As you can see, even the 2 gives him some growing room.

And I have a finish! Halloween bunny went from here

to here.

So I had to start the next project, right? It was here by the 8th

and here when I went to bed last night.

Didn't get a lot of time on the rug except to finish the row I had started, so it now looks like this.

I mentioned sunny days at the top of the bog - and what do you do when there is sunshine pouring through windows?

You sleep in it of course!

WIP Wednesday 11 May 2016

Well, not a particularly good stitching week - came down with a ferocious head cold this past weekend. I did get a few more stitches in elf/Santa before I got flattened. He was here last week

and got this far.

No work on the sweater at all I'm afraid.

The weather has been glorious the last few days and the fur brats are making the most of it.

Catching Up!

Eek, I haven't posted for over a week. Not a good thing at all. I've just become very involved with my local Seniors' Centre and I'm having some trouble re-organizing my time so I can fit everything in. Oh well, it'll come. But in the meantime, I've just spent a large part of the day catching up on my blog reading - I forgot what a chatty bunch we are - and now for what I've been up to.

I've been stitching on a snowman since I finished my elf/Santa and she was here at the beginning of the weekend

and looks like this now.

There is one more snowman to finish off the set, so I will probably do him before I get back to the elves - there are two more of them and I'm looking forward to seeing if stitching them on a smaller count fabric improves the detail of the face.

And I got a real urge to pick up my knitting needles again, so I hauled out all the necessary bits and pieces and got this far after a couple of hours.

I will be doing the Canadian flag version of course. I will probably give it to my craft partner Cynthia for her grandson when it's done.

And I couldn't leave without showing off Snowy in one of his more regal poses,

and Yoda snuggling by my side.

WIP Wednesday 2 March 2016

Very, very little stitching time so my poor little elf/Santa has only gone from here

to here.

At least he has feet now!

And an update on the life of a pampered pet. What do you do while you're waiting for your turn on the kitty condo perch?

Wash your paws of course! They COULD share, but that would never do. Or find a patch of sunshine and bake your brains.

"Oh, that's your Day-Timer underneath me? Am I supposed to care?"

WIP Wednesday 24 February 2016

Eek, it's the last Wednesday in February!

Last week my stitching was here

and this week he has most of his body.

He needs his shoes and backstitching, but I still think he's looking pretty dapper.

Snowy and Yoda doing their best to convince me that I need to open the screen and let them play outside. Not going to happen, but they keep on trying.

WIP Wednesday 3 February 2016

It's been a pretty good week even though I didn't feel like I got in much stitching time.

I've got a finish! Last WIP Wednesday

and today.

32 count Driftwood linen
DMC threads
Leisure Arts' book Traditional Ornaments

And a new start.

Pattern from the same book, also on 32 count linen.

And finally, at long last I caught one of the cats on their kitty condo.

Of course, the minute Yoda realized I was looking at him, he started to leave. But I have proof! LOL

WIP Wednesday 16 September 2015

Well, my time has mostly spent doing this

but I did manage a couple of very short stitching sessions and got this done.

I'm sure you can tell exactly what it's going to be.

On Sunday I took part in the Paws For A Cause walk for the SPCA and as I was headed for Mariner's Park I past this local keeping an eye on passers by.

And I've had to spend some time snuggling one of my boys who is very confused about what is happening to his home.

And that's been my week.

WIP Wednesday 26 August 2015

Well, apart from my usual moan about not having enough stitching time, I have made progress on Santa.

Here's where he was at the end of IHSW.

And here is where I left him last night. Had to frog part of his mustache as I had miscounted, but now I can concentrate on his face and finishing his beard.

And I bet you didn't know that grocery deliveries came with fur toppers!

And Yoda was trying to make designs with the strings as I unpacked the boxes.

Still house hunting - have an appointment to see a place tomorrow afternoon.

WIP Wednesday 15 July 2015 And Other Things

Okay, some progress with the wedding sampler. Here I was last week

And here is where I stopped on Monday.

It's hard to see all the fill in stitches inside the heart, but they are there. Still is a fair bit of back stitching to do before I can move over to the second bird.

And why wasn't I stitching last night you ask? Well, I settled down to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy as usual and Yoda decided to join me.

And I just didn't have the heart to move him when the hour was up, so I settled for some reading instead.

THERE'S A GIVE AWAY HAPPENING!

There is a most generous give away opportunity at the Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe blog of some beautiful looking floss. Check it out here!

IHSW is coming!!

A weekend that is totally dedicated to stitching, from Friday night to Sunday night, This lovely idea is hosted by Joysze at Random Ramblings. Click here if you want to join us, click here if you're going "Huh, what IS she talking about?".

And on a more personal note - when I turned 65 in May, I mentioned that I was working hard to shed some excess weight. Well, more honestly, a LOT of excess weight. And, as of my weekly weigh in yesterday morning, I have gotten rid of 100.5 pounds! Now THAT caused a happy dance, believe you me.  However, celebrating is over and it's back to working on the next 5 pounds.
