WIP Wednesday 4 January 2017

I am still not used to writing 2017 so I must pay close attention. And welcome to the first WIP Wednesday post of the New Year. So lets get going.

Retirement Means got a little attention going from here

to here.

Looking forward to her head and face being more defined.

The Great Blue Heron got just enough attention that I could say I started, going from a blank piece of fabric to this.

It's the very top of his head.

And Stormy got the same minimal start.

It's the uppermost leaf on the left.

Nothing like starting with Krenik!

And I did get in some knitting time, from here

to here.

I need to sew up the skirt, add 2 tiny buttons and sew in the ends. It does fit the doll (first thing I checked after I cast off) so hopefully next week you will see her wearing it with either the matching hat or panties or, deep breath, maybe both.

My oldest UFO didn't get touched.

I had hoped to do more, but my craft partner/best friend's husband had a heart attack around supper time New Year's Eve and another one around 3 a.m. New Year's Day. He and Cynthia (thank goodness there was room for her) were med-evacced to Vancouver, St. Paul's Hospital, where he is being fast tracked for open heart surgery as he has several blocked arteries. Needless to say I am worried about them both and feeling so frustrated and helpless as they are 500 miles away by air, double that by road. Any crafting for the next little while will be something that doesn't take concentration.

This is a good time for talking about 2016 plans and mine are very modest this year.

I MUST finish my oldest UFO!

And here's the last picture I took of the area being worked on.

This will be my focus until completed, then I will pick my next oldest UFO and work on that.

My only new starts should be smalls - ornaments for the Christmas Ornie SAL I belong to. I should be able to handle one a month - I hope!

2015 First Finish!

And the towel is finally done! I thought I had finished it Friday night, but as I was putting it away I realized I had forgotten all the backstitch bubbles. And as it was then midnight, I just said some rude words and went to bed. LOL

So here it is, REALLY finished this time.

Now I just need to wrap it up and get it to baby Orin.

And what's next? Well, this will be my "take with me" piece

and this will be my "at home" piece - my oldest UFO which just has to be finished this year.

It's WIP Wednesday!

Oops, I almost missed the last WIP Wednesday of the year. Got in a bit more stitching on the towel, so just the backstitching to go.

Hopefully I'll get some stitching in tonight as it's an at-home New Year's Eve.

I hope you all enjoy whatever celebrations you are planning for tonight. And if you must be on the road, please be very careful.

And for all of you lovely people who drop by my blog, I wish you a healthy, happy, love filled 2013!

Resolutions? I don't usually do that, but last year I made one - I resolved to finish more stitching pieces than I started in 2012 and I did it - by the skin of my teeth! LOL Except for a Bucilla kit I started on Boxing Day, every new chart I started in 2012 got stitch finished. The "ready to use/hang" finishing is still needed for most of them. Plus, I finished 2 WIPs that had been hanging around for a few years. One goal not met was finishing my oldest UFO, but I plan on working on that tonight and hopefully tomorrow I can show what I have accomplished over the year. And it's in my rotation for 2013, so anything can happen! But I've decided to keep the same resolution for this year - finish more than I start so I can see my list of WIPs shrink, even a little.
