WIP Wednesday 22 July 2015

Goodness, how did it get to be Wednesday again!

Here's where I was last Wednesday.

I've since finished the heart

and moved on to the top right hand corner.

Got this far before putting it away

so I can concentrate on this.

It's for a Smalls exchange and it will be my sole piece now until it's finished and mailed off.

WIP Wednesday 8 July 2015

Some good progress on the wedding sampler this week.

This is where I was last Wednesday.

Then I finished this section - except for beads and an elongated Smyrna stitch border that goes outside the blue border around the main area and inside the blue border of the personalisation and alphabet rectangles.

So I moved on to the top centre heart.

And here is where I left it last night.

I hope to get a few more hours in tonight, but then I MUST work on a piece for a smalls exchange that has to go in the mail in 2 weeks at the latest.

I've also been dealing with a stitching impediment

All of a sudden Snowy has decided that sleeping ON me is a good thing, in spite of the heat - and he is very persistent!

WIP Wednesday 1 July 2015

Got some good stitching time into the wedding sampler this week.

This was where I left off 2 weeks ago

and this is where I finished last night.

The background stitching is finally all done for this section and got some serious back stitching done. Just need to finish the bird and I can move on to a new section.

June IHSW

It was a busy weekend, but I did get in a few hours of stitching. Here's where the stitching started

and here's where I was by Sunday night.

Not a lot of the background stitching left in this section, so hopefully that will get finished in the next session.

Now to go blog hopping and see what everyone else has been up to.

WIP Wednesday 17 June 2015

I'm starting to feel a little like I'm getting somewhere with this wedding sampler. Here's where I left off last week.

And here's where I stopped last night.

I need to get the background stitches in around the bird's tail, then I can back stitch the bird. (Have no idea where the blue tinge in the picture came from!)

And finally there is one little corner where the stitching is done and just beads to go.

The flower! There will be beads at the end of the long stitches and the satin stitches.

WIP Wednesday 10 June 2015

Got in a few good hours on the Wedding Sampler this week. This is where I left it a week ago.

And this is where I left it last night.

And you're probably going "Okay, you filled in the rest of the heart but that took hours?". Nope, that wasn't the time eater. Here's a close up of the corner.

Can you see them? All those honeycomb looking stitches around the flower and the head of the bird? They cover the entire background of the sampler except for the alphabet and personalisation boxes. It's ecru thread on ivory fabric and there is a LOT of counting so it's slow going.

However, I will take a slight break from that and do the back stitching on the flower, then finish the honeycomb around the bird so I can back stitch that. It's all progress, right?

WIP Wednesday 3 June 205

Got a few more stitches in the Wedding Sampler. This is where I was last Wednesday.

This is where I am today.

Slowly, slowly, but it's coming.

WIP Wednesday 27 May 2015

Again, not a lot of stitching time, but some progress on my Wedding Sampler. Left it here last week:

and stopped here last night (or technically very early this morning!).

The blue border goes all around the outside of the piece and then there will be an Algerian Eye border outside of that. Once I get the side down to the Q-snap, I'll see what else I can fill in before I shift it over to the right and start working on that bird.

WIP Wednesday 20 May 2015

I actually have something to show this week! I've been working on the Wedding Sampler. Here is the picture of the area I was going to stitch on.

Here's what I have done.

Remember I commented that hopefully the satin stitch and long stitch would go faster? HAH! That definitely goes under the "don't make me laugh" category. I am pleased with my progress though and think the bird looks much better now that he is getting a full tail.

WIP Wednesday 6 May 2015

Well, the wedding sampler got all of my stitching attention again.

Here's where I was last Wednesday.

Here's where I stopped last night.

The leaves are done!

I was asked by D1-D2 for a close up of the leaves, so here it is.

Sorry, that's the best I could do with my phone, and that's the only camera I have at the moment.

And here is where I stitch next.

Back to the top left corner. I'm going to work on the satin and long stitches together in each area as I go. Hopefully they will go a little faster than the lazy daisy.

It's been really busy at work, so my take-with-me Sweet Tulips is still waiting for some attention.

See you all next week!

WIP Wednesday 29 April 20151

At least I do have something to report this post! Not a huge amount of stitching time - I'm blaming end of month bookkeeping stuff - but my wedding sampler got all the attention.

This is where I left it at the beginning of March.

And this is where I put it down last night.

Finished all the vines and got started on the leaves. I really don't mind doing lazy daisy stitches, especially with pearl cotton, but it's slow going. Two nights' work and I've only completed C through L. However, once the leaves are finished, I'm done with the letters until I start beading, and it's on to large amounts of satin stitch.

WIP Wednesday

Goodness Wednesdays roll around quickly! Not a huge amount of stitching done even though I was involved in a stitching marathon this weekend. Just feeling "Blah". However, here's what I did manage -

Pack of Cards on the 21st:

and today.

Back to the border, right hand side.

Wedding Sampler on the 21st:

and today - close up of the section worked on. And yes, that really is how old this UFO is!

All the cross stitches and half cross stitches are done - back stitch, long stitch, satin stitch, Lazy Daisy, Elongated Smyrna, French knots and beads still to come. All the capital letters have vines and leaves twined through them - that will be my focus next so all the letters will be completely finished.

In January I decided that this would be the year to focus on completing some WIPs, but I forgot I had signed up for a "New Year, New Start" challenge. This week I did just enough to complete the challenge - here's what I chose.

This will get a little more attention in February as part of a "Stitch An Animal" challenge, but it will definitely take a back burner to my older WIPs.

It's WIP Wednesday!

Managed to get a few more stitches in both my pieces.

Want to get the left border finished so I can do the next row of text.

Trying hard to get in names and date. Then the cross stitching will be done and it's on to back stitch, specialty stitches and beads.

And The First IHSW of 2013 Is In The Books

Well, it's been a pretty good weekend. I worked on 3 different projects.

Friday, I worked on Bluebell Kitten. Thursday night it looked like this:

Friday night it looked like this:

Then on Saturday I decided to give some love to my oldest UFO. Sorry, but I forgot to take a picture just before I started, so I'll have to use my 1 January photo as the start one.

And when I put it down Saturday night, I was here.

Then on Sunday I worked on my HAED SAL piece. Started here:

And finished here:

I didn't realize working over 1 on 25 count was going to be so slow. Or maybe I'm just not used to it yet. And I apologize - these are not the best pictures.

So, all in all a productive weekend. Can't wait to go blog hopping and see what all of you worked on.

And So a New Year Starts

Well, I actually managed to stay awake long enough to see 2013 in. Was a quiet evening here, just me, the TV and some munchies.

I don't remember whose blog said something about taking your year's worth of ORTs and putting them into a clear ornament, but I thought it was a great idea. So, I did it.

And here's what my 2012 stitching looked like in the bits and pieces left over. I just need to mark the year on it, because I plan on doing more.

In 2012 I tried to get my Oldest UFO done. I didn't make it, but I did make progress. Here is what it looked like 2 January 2012

and here's what it looks like 1 January 2013.

I think there is hope for this thing yet.

November's IHSW - A Total Bust!

I did not get one stitch put in anything this weekend - not ONE!!

This is what Scotland looked like Thursday night

and this is exactly what it looks like this morning.

This was the Wedding Sampler Thursday night

and nothing has changed.

It was still a good weekend as far as being a weekend, but a terrible stitching time. Hopefully the next one will be more productive. (HOORAY for there being a next one! LOL)
